JoJo, our library shelf elf, has enjoyed meeting and listening to all the boys and girls who have come to the library during December. He asked to share a few things with the children before he goes back to Santa on Dec. 24. First, his favorite color is red. Second, his favorite food is Christmas pizza.
What's a Christmas pizza? JoJo said it's like any other pizza except the toppings must be red; like pepperoni, red peppers, and candy red hots.
Can you gues what he like for dessert: That's right! A candy cane because of the red stripes. JoJo says he will miss all of you when he has to go, but that it's been delightful to be your shelf elf and he thanks you for sharing your stories with him. He wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Speaking of Christmas! There are only three days until Christmas. If you are in need of a special gift for someone on your list, how about a book? I still have my books from my mom and dad and the wonderful memory of them reading them to me.
As a parent and grandparent, I have enjoyed sharing the love of reading with my children and grandchildren. My children have continued this tradition with their children as well. So if you need some help finding a good book come to the Cherokee Public Library and browse through our books.
Another tradition I would like to offer will be upstairs in the youth department of the Cherokee Public Library. "Let the Good Times Roll" will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Dec. 27, 28, and 29 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday we will be making some unique snowflakes, design an artwork using special paper cutting, and making New Year's masks to help bring in the New Year.
If time we will also make some African masks. All ages are welcome! You may come anytime from 2 p.m. -- 4 p.m.
Bring them too!
Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. bring your family, friends, and relatives and join in the fun as you play boardgames, cards, or how about learning a new game?
Have you ever heard of "Yam-slam," or "Paddle Pool"? If not, you're in for a good time.
Again all ages are welcome. Not a game person? We have lots of puzzles.
So take a break from your Christmas break and join in the good times at the Cherokee Public Library.
