Are you looking for the first robin of the year? Look no further south than the southeast corner of O'Brien County.

Robins and bluebirds often spend the winter in our own backyard.

Join in a citizen science opportunity offered by the O'Brien County Conservation Board and the Iowa Lakes Audubon Society. These groups have teamed together to offer a New Year's Bird Count for our area.

Everyone is encouraged to meet at the Prairie Heritage Center on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m.

Groups will be organized and will carpool to various locations to count winter birds in the area. A caravan will also follow the Midwinter Bald Eagle survey route to collect data on Bald Eagles using the Little Sioux River valley as their winter home.

For more information about the event, contact the O'Brien County Conservation Board at 712-295-7200.
