NEWELL - Twenty-year-old Ashley Kruse of Aurelia was killed as the result of an accident which took place around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 29 at the intersection of gravel roads 600th Street and 240th Avenue north of Newell.
Investigating officers said Kruse was a passenger in a car that did not stop at a stop sign when approaching the intersection on 600th Street. Authorities say Logan Davis, 22, of Newell, was the driver of that car which collided with a northbound truck driven by Kurt Wolff, 42, of Newell.
Buena Vista County Sheriff's Deputies reported Davis was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with serious injuries. A hospital official said last week that his family did not want his condition released.
Wolff was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, but was not listed as a patient on Friday.
Services for Kruse were held on Saturday, Dec. 31 at First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with funeral arrangements under the direction of Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
