'Learning with Lunch' at WITCC focuses on retirement

Thursday, January 5, 2012

The next ISU Extension and Outreach "Learning with Lunch" will be held on Wednesday, January 11 from noon to 1 p.m. at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Cherokee.

Jan Burk, ISU Extension and Outreach Family Finance Program Specialist, will present the program entitled "Steps to a Richer Retirement." Retirement planning issues for late career adults, the self-employed, and already retired individuals will be discussed. Burk will share tips on ways to save money to invest for your future, make your dollars go farther in retirement, and selecting from various tax-advantaged retirement plans. The information presented will be research-based and will not promote or endorse any particular products.

Cost for the program is $6 per person, which includes lunch. CEU's will be available for an additional $5.00 fee. To reserve a seat and lunch, participants must preregister by Monday, January 9 by calling the Cherokee County Extension Office at (712) 225-6196, or email xcherokee@iastate.edu to preregister.

"Learning with Lunch" is a series of monthly workshops offered by ISU Extension and Outreach in partnership with Western Iowa Tech Community College and Hy-Vee, all of Cherokee. A different topic is featured each month through April, 2012.

February's topic will be Spring Seed Starting with Julie French, Iowa Master Gardener.
