REMSEN - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys reeled off a 15-2 scoring run in the fourth quarter to put away host Remsen St. Mary's 52-29 in basketball action here Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped to an 18-10 lead in the first period, and led 24-19 at halftime, before icing it with a solid second-half performance.

Dylan Spieler paced the Eagles with 19 points and 12 rebounds for a sweet double-double game, while Zach Specht added 15 points, and Tyler Prunty and Dalton Brady eight apiece. Spieler also had five assists and four steals to lead both departments, and Specht snagged five rebounds.

MMC was 22-39 shooting for a sizzling 56 percent, and meshed 5-11 free throws. The Hawks fired up 17 thee-balls and made three, and MMC was a tidy 3-5 from the three-point arc.

"The boys played some solid defense. We really kept them off the offensive boards and this helped us limit them to 10 points the entire second half," said MMC coach Pat Bird.

"I was really happy with the way the boys played as a team on both ends of the court."
