Nicole Chaffin Morgan has been growing out her hair for the last two years so she could donate her hair to "Locks of Love." She was inspired to donate by her daughter who donated her long pony tail a year and a half ago prior to starting kindergarten.
However, in an unexpected twist, Nicole was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on December 21, 2011, and will be losing her hair to the side effects of chemotherapy - the very reason she had decided to donate her own hair.
Nicole has been undergoing radiation and has now started chemotherapy. She decided to still get her hair cut short to donate it to "Locks of Love" and wanted to have that done before her hair was damaged by the chemotherapy.
Nicole and her young daughter, Faith, both feel strongly about supporting those who have been diagnosed with cancer and lose their hair through their treatments designed to cure them. They both have a strong family history of cancer and have lost loved ones to the disease and gain some degree of solace from helping others in the same situation.
Nicole is uninsured and just graduated from Morningside College last May Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Elementary Education.
She is currently a stay-at-home Mom with her youngest child, Jayce still home; Faith attends school in Kingsley and Carter is a student in the River-Valley School district. Nicole is married to Tim Morgan of Kingsley and together they have three chidlren: Faith 7, Carter 5, and Jayce 2.
Nicole is the daughter of Brian and Teri (White) Chaffin of Cherokee. Tim is the son of Doug and Shelly Morgan and Arlen and Julie (Barthole) Seablom of Kingsley.
An account has been opened at the North Star Credit Union in Cherokee to accept donations to help Tim and Niki with the burden of the medical expenses incurred with these cancer treatments.
