ALTA - Alta-Aurelia coach Dean Lietz felt that his boys played pretty well for three quarters in their non-conference game here against Kingsley-Pierson Tuesday, but the Warriors struggled in the second quarter, which led to an 11 point deficit at the half. Alta-Aurelia cut the margin to three points twice in the second half, but they were never able to take the lead over the Panthers, whose inside game hurt A-A down the stretch, and Kingsley-Pierson won the game , 50-41.
Besides being out-rebounded, the Warriors also didn't shoot well in the first half, and played on their heels defensively and lost their aggressiveness on offense in the 2nd quarter.
Coach Lietz is confident that his team will bounce back and compete hard in their next game against East Sac County at Alta on Friday.
Jaden Holton was one of three Warriors who scored in double figures with 22 points, while Neil Marshall scored 16 and A.J. Lange 10. Marshall led the team on the boards with nine rebounds. Holton dished out five assists and he, Lange and Marshall each stole two passes. KP also had three double figure scorers - Travis Neuman with 19 points, Cody Kuchel with 14 and Tate Rohde with 11.
The Warriors (9-4) host East Sac County in Alta on Friday.
