MARCUS - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn basketball teams swept Granville Spalding here Tuesday night, the MMC girls winning the opener 68-43, and the Eagles claiming the nightcap 63-47.
MMC sank 28-70 field goals for 40 percent, and cashed in 13-24 free throws.
Dreckman also led her team on the boards with 11 rebounds, while Foresman had nine, and Doeden eight. Dreckman registered five steals and dished off four assists to also lead those categories.
The Lady Eagles led 37-23 at halftime, and then outscored the Spalding gals 31-20 in the second half for the War Eagle Conference win.
In the boys game, MMC forged a 32-24 halftime lead and then went on a 33-23 scoring run in the second half to hold off the Spartans.
Dylan Spieler led the Eagles with 21 points, while Nate Rassel scored 13, and Dalton Brady 11. Spieler and Tyler Prunty grabbed nine rebounds each in the game.
Ryan Stoll paced the Spartans with 15 points, and Brady Heying tallied 13.
MMC sank 29-66 field goals for 44 percent, and was 9-15 from the foul line. Spalding made 24-73 shots for 33 percent, and netted 5-6 free throws.
"We had a good effort from all the boys," said MMC coach Pat Bird. "Dalton Brady and Andrew Hoefling have really come along as the season has progressed, and that is giving us a much better rotation. It's nice to see all the players working together."
The MMC boys are 8-5, the MMC girls 10-3, and they host Remsen St. Mary's tonight in a WEC twin bill.
