Alvin E. Wiese, age 82, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service was held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Roger Twito officiating. Burial was at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Alvin E. Wiese was born July 29, 1929 on the farm at Holstein, the fifth of six children born to Herman and Christina Wiese. He attended country school and farmed with his father until he married Bonnie Rochau on Aug. 5, 1951. They were blessed with five children.

Alvin farmed in the Holstein area most of his life, retiring due to health reasons.

Alvin enjoyed family and friends and was active in church and spent many hours carving wood, which he really enjoyed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Christina (Clausen) Wiese; two sisters, Hermina Wiese and Luella (Wiese) Beers; and brothers-in-law, Jack Rochau, Melvin Beers and Lawrence Steen.

He is survived by his children, Connie (Doc) Fread of Central City, Neb., Deby (Paul) Freese of Webster City, Lori (Mike) Kyle of Ankeny, Susan (Koby) Kielhorn of Lititz, Pa. and Scott Wiese of Omaha, Neb.; the mother of his children, Bonnie Wiese of Aurelia; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Eva) Wiese of Mapleton; sisters, Edna Steen of Arkansas and Lorraine Rochau of Holstein; and many nieces and nephews.
