Thursday, January 26, 2012

STORM LAKE -- Buena Vista University head wrestling coach Sevond Cole has announced plans to host the first annual Beaver Classic, a wrestling tournament which will have youth, high school, and old timers' divisions, and will be held inside at the Lamberti Recreation Center on the BVU campus on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

The youth division will consist of all individuals in grades PK-8, and will begin wrestling at 9 a.m., with the high school and old timers divisions beginning at noon.

The high school division will be grouped for those in grades 9-12, and the "old timers" group will be divided into collegiate and non-collegiate divisions. Those individuals who were members of a collegiate team will wrestle in the collegiate division, while those who did not wrestle collegiately will be paired in the non-collegiate. division. Each of those two divisions will be divided into a junior (28 years old and younger) and senior (29 years old and older) division.

All entrants will be paired up, based on their weight, with a four-man bracket format being used, and awards will be given to the top four place winners of each bracket. Registration is $10, if received by February 27, and $12 if paid at the door.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the BVU website at www.bvu.edu/athletics/sports/wrestling.
