MARCUS - There is a new face at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus. Matt Schubert and Tim Greenwood have welcomed Andrea Orthmann to the business. She will be a plus to Greenwood-Schubert accommodating their patrons.

Orthmann is a native of Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1976. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg and worked as an LPN for several years. In recent time, Orthmann felt drawn in a new direction as she, along with her husband, Joel, provided music for church and funerals. She became involved with compassion ministry and felt the need to assist people through emotional times. She took a leap of faith when she decided to attend Iowa Lakes Community College for two more years and then went onto the Arapahoe Community College Mortuary Science program in Littleton, Colorado, from which she graduated in 2005.

Orthmann was the funeral director at the Sanborn and Hartley Funeral Homes for six years, and it was during this time that Schubert became aware of Orthmann, as he job-shadowed Schubert at a funeral home when he was in Spencer.

Eventually, as Schubert enlarged his business, he recognized the need to have someone full-time in Marcus who could also help out in Cherokee as well. Orthmann officially became a member of the Greenwood-Schubert Funerl Home as of January, 2012. One may get hold of her through calling 712-376-4886.

Joel Orthmann, a contractor, works with Delmer Mogenson Construction of Cleghorn. The couple is very excited about making a move to the Marcus community. They have four grown children and three grandchildren. They are active members of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church of rural Meriden. Both enjoy all things musical as well as watching sports.
