The Ridge View girls met Westwood Monday night in a consolation contest of the Western Valley Conference basketball tournament.
The Raptors' Kaitlynn Madsen scored a couple of big baskets in the fourth quarter and Ridge View took the lead, 23-22, with three minutes left in the game. It was tied at 25 with a minute left to go, and then Nicole Snyder hit a big three for the Raptors off an inbounds play to put the Raptors up by three with 40 seconds left. Ridge View was able to keep the Rebels from scoring the rest of the way and the Raptors came away with a 29-26 victory.
Nicole Snyder led the Raptors' scoring with 11 points, and Rachel Boyle and Kaitlynn Madsen led the team on the boards, with six rebounds apiece.
Ridge View coach Ken Slater said that both teams struggled offensively, but he felt that was mostly because both played pretty good defense.
"We really did a great job of boxing out tonight compared to the last time we played them at their place," (a 30-23 Westwood win) said Slater.
The coach also felt that the Raptors did a good job taking care of the ball, and were able to hold Westwood's best player, Christy Gallagher, to just six points by keeping her from getting offensive put-backs, which is how she scored quite a few points against Ridge View in the teams' previous match-up.
