ALTA - Alta-Aurelia defeated Laurens-Marathon, 64-57, here on Tuesday in Twin Lakes Conference basketball action,
Neil Marshall and Jaden Holton each scored 20 points for the Warriors, while AJ Lange scored 16. Ben Sand led the Warriors on the boards with 11 rebounds, while Lange had 10 and Jalen Henningsen eight, Holton dished out five assists for the Warriors.
The Chargers had four double figure scorers - Tyler Stumbo, who scored 17 points, David Sundblad, who had 14, and Seth Hersom and Alex Runneberg, each of whom scored 10.
Alta-Aurelia coach Dean Lietz said, "This was a hard fought victory from beginning to end. We felt as though we were in control, but L-M battled the entire game and the outcome was in doubt until the very end. We got some big stops in the 4th quarter, and made free throws down the stretch when we needed them. We rebounded well and limited their second chance opportunities.
"Jaden Holton and Neil Marshall had nice offensive games, Jalen Henningsen's defense was stellar, A.J. Lange had a nice all-around game, and Austin Delp and Ben Sand played strong under the basket. Jayson Van Haaften also hit a big bucket in the first half.
"This was a nice team win, and now we look forward to Newell-Fonda (tonight in Alta)."
The Warriors now have an 11-6 season record ,heading into weekend games in Alta against Newell-Fonda and East Sac County.
