Cherokee Educational Foundation Benefit Dinner & Auction Feb. 24

Thursday, February 9, 2012

The Cherokee Educational Foundation's annual Benefit Dinner and Auction is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 on the upper level of the Cherokee Community Center.

This enjoyable "evening out" will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour and bidding on several valuable silent auction items. A delicious dinner of prime rib or fish, catered by The Family Table, will follow, and the evening will conclude with the lively and entertaining "live" auction.

The purpose of this benefit is to raise funds to be used to enhance educational opportunities for students and staff at all levels of education in the Cherokee schools.

This year's event promises a delicious dinner preceded by an social hour, with the CEF offering beer, wine, and pop at no charge for ticket holders.

As the result of the 2011 dinner and auction, the Foundation was able to support the schools with a grant of $28,000 which was used for digital video cameras, field trips for all three buildings, high school lab equipment, summer school programs, 4th grade World Awareness Day, kindergarten transition, listening centers, bean bag chairs for reading, exercise bike, and ipads.

The CEF hopes many in the community will plan to attend this special evening and help impact the Cherokee educational system at the same time.

Tickets are $30 per person, and may be purchased at the Central Administration Office of Washington High School or by calling Sue Parker (225-5004) or John Cook (225-5175).
