A-A Warrior girls fall to St. Mary's

Friday, February 10, 2012

STORM LAKE - The Alta-Aurelia girls traveled to Storm Lake Tuesday to wrap up their regular season with a Twin Lakes Conference game against Storm Lake St . Mary's.

St. Mary's led all the way as the Panthers cruised to a 64-43 win over the Warriors. The Warriors struggled from the field and got themselves into foul trouble early and the Panthers were able to knock down their free throws.

"St Mary's really did a nice job all night of attacking the basket, getting to the free throw line and owning the offensive glass," said Alta-Aurelia coach G.G. Harris.

Rachel Husman led the Warriors with nine points, Gracie Winterhof added eight, and Lindsay Hall chipped in with six. Hall, Husman, Jenna Snyder and Stephenie Robbins each grabbed five rebounds to lead the Warriors on the boards.

Alta-Aurelia (4-17) starts District Tournament play Saturday night in Sac City when they take on conference rival East Sac County in first-round action.

"They are a good team," said Coach Harris, " but we are up to the challenge. When it comes to tournament time, it is anybody's game."
