The 17th Annual Cherokee County Recognition Banquet will be held Saturday, March 10, at the Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center in Cherokee.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour. The social hour is a great time to mingle with others from throughout the county and reconnect with friends or get to know the new members of our communities.
Following the social hour will be a buffet dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. The buffet will feature baked ham, tender beef brisket, hash brown casserole, green beans almondine , lettuce salad, a variety of breads and rolls, coffee, tea, bottled water courtesy of Blaine's Culligan, and a variety of tasty cakes.
As the dinner is finishing, the presentation of awards will begin. Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation starts the award process by recognizing area businesses that have remodeled, expanded, have new management/ownership, or started a new business. As soon as these certificates have been distributed, the Awards Ceremony begins.
The Banquet also recognizes the "Citizen of the Year" from those nominated from throughout the communities involved.
This year presentations will be made by the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, Cherokee Industrial Corporation, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Aurelia Economic Development, Marcus Chamber, Marcus Economic Development Corporation, and the cities of Cleghorn, Cherokee, Quimby and Washta.
