Applications now being taken for free Pre-School Program

Monday, March 5, 2012

Mid-Sioux Opportunities' Head Start program is currently recruiting income - eligible children for the 2012-13 school year. Head Start is a free preschool program for 3 and 4-year-old children, and to be age eligible this fall, children must be 3 years of age on or before September 15, 2012.

Head Start helps provide children with educational activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally ad physically. The children spend time in a stimulating setting where they form good habits and enjoy playing and working on tasks with their classmates. Your child will leave Head Start more prepared for Kindergarten, excited about leaning, and ready to succeed. Head Start operates four days a week, and a nutritious breakfast and lunch are provided at the center.

Head Start centers are located in Akron, Cherokee, Ida Grove, LeMars, Orange City, Rock Valley, Rock Rapids and Sioux Center, with a Child Development Center (CDC) in Hawarden.

Head Start is free for income eligible children. Applications are being taken now. To apply, please contact your local Mid-Sioux Opportunity Outreach Office. The phone number for the Cherokee Outreach Center is 712-225-3322.
