Robert (Bob) L. Robinson, 63, of Cherokee, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Sharon Cates will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W.

There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. Robert was born on Jan. 4, 1949 in Cherokee, to Bernard and Ruth (Johnson) Robinson.He graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Army in 1968, and was stationed in Ft. Riley, Kan., Ft. Lewis, Wash., Vietnam and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1988.

He was united in marriage to Madonna Rose Cates on Aug. 4, 1969 in Washington D.C. In 1989 ,he moved to Cleghorn, working for the U. S. Post Office in Cherokee. After a brief period, he transferred to San Antonio, Texas until his retirement in 2009, when he moved back to Cherokee. He enjoyed golf and traveling

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Bonnie Kristine, in 1974; He is survived by his wife Madonna; a son, Robert J. Robinson and his wife Debra of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren: Margaret, Bonnie and Laura Robinson; his siblings, Bill (Cathy) Robinson of Calumet; Dick (Mary) Robinson of Meriden; Chuck (Rita) Robinson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Vicki (Kenny) Fassler of Meriden; Linda (Les) Noonan of Lennox, S.D.; his father-in-law James Cates and his wife Rose of Okoboji; and also many nieces and nephews.
