The Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) in Cherokee is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year.
If your child will be four years-old by September 15, 2012, they will be eligible to receive free preschool programming provided through the Cherokee Community School District.
The Cherokee Community School District was awarded State funds through the state-wide voluntary preschool program for four-year-old children. The purpose of the program is to expand the opportunity for Iowa's young children to access quality preschool environments and enter school ready to learn.
The preschool classrooms are located in the ECDLC building at 400 N. Roosevelt Ave. The classrooms are led by teachers with four-year bachelor's degrees in the area of early childhood education. The program uses High/Scope Curriculum.
The ECLC holds a morning and an afternoon session. Classes are held Monday through Friday, with two Fridays per month in which no classes are held due to home visits. In-town transportation is provided by the Cherokee Community School District.
Those interested in having their four-year-old child participate in a free and quality program can pick up an application at the ECLC in Cherokee, or call 712/225-6774 for more information.
