Wednesday, March 28, 2012

OMAHA, Neb. -- Farm Credit Services of America has acquired the Harold Ferrin Agency in Cherokee from owner Harold Ferrin, the Omaha-based financial services provider has announced. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ferrin's agency provided crop insurance coverage to farm operators in the Cherokee area. Full-time crop insurance specialists based in FCSAmerica's Storm Lake office now will serve area customers.

"We appreciate the confidence Harold has shown by selling us his business." said Mike Barrett, senior vice president-insurance for FCSAmerica. "Harold Ferrin Agency and Farm Credit Services of America share a commitment to provide the very best crop insurance expertise and service to customers in northwest Iowa."

"My customers will be well cared for and receive outstanding customer service from Farm Credit Services of America," said Ferrin.

FCSAmerica's Storm Lake office is staffed by local crop insurance specialists knowledgeable about the region's agricultural enterprises. Many of Ferrin's crop insurance customers already have real estate or operating loans with the financial services cooperative, Barrett noted.
