The ABC Committee (Association for the Beautification of Cherokee) meets for an hour every Monday at 5 p.m. - if the weather is good - for the express purpose of maintaining the decorative flowers on Cherokee's Main Street.
New members are alway welcome, and you can call Dwight Varce at his business, The Framing Nook (phone number 225-5463) if you have any questions about the group, its goals and meeting times.
This coming Monday, April 2, the group will be meeting at the node outside of Nomad Travel Agency and work their way west, "dead-heading" the flowers in the nodes along Main Street.
Keeping downtown Cherokee looking good is more important than ever as the opening day/night of RAGBRAI (July 22) quickly approaches.
Everyone is welcome to join in the effort Monday - "Many hands make light work," as they say.
