Phil Anderson of Cherokee discovered the Gold Egg in this year's Chronicle Times Fifth Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt. For his discovery, Anderson wins $1000 worth of the furniture of his choice from Carey's Furniture in Cherokee.

Anderson found the egg at the tennis courts near the Cherokee Middle School "under a bush" on Wednesday, and brought it in to the Chronicle Times office that morning.

Anderson thanks all the sponsors of the contest and had fun discovering the egg. He and his wife are looking forward to picking out a new sofa and chair at Carye's Furniture in the near future.

The Silver Egg has yet to be located.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt is open to anyone except employees of The Chronicle Times and Carey's Furniture and their immediate families. No purchase is necessary. Decision of the judges is final.
