POCAHONTAS - The Alta-Aurelia girls played a Twin Lakes Conference dual golf meet against Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer here on Thursday, but the dual was rather one-sided, as Pocahontas Area had only three girls in the varsity meet and didn't field a team in the Junior Varsity meet.
The Alta-Aurelia girls still played, though, and they played well - posting a team score (4 players) of 193 strokes. Three of the Alta-Aurelia girls shot identical scores of 47, with Kelsi Snyder taking the medal honors and Erica Lockin the runner-up medalist. April Goslinga also toured the nine holes in 47 strokes and Jenna Snyder posted a 52. Aspen Wiederholt (58) and Maddi Meier (59) also played for A-A's varsity team, which is coached by LeAnn Patton.
Emily Domath and Amber Aden each shot a 55 for PA/PP's varsity, while Shelby Trenary shot a 69. There was not a fourth player, so they weren't able to compete as a team.
The Alta-Aurelia Junior Varsity scored a team total of 262 strokes, led by Kaity Brake's medal round of 58. Val Hernandez shot a 67 for runner-up medal, Meri Kestel shot a 68 and Lyndsay Hall a 69. Steph Stange also played for the Alta-Aurelia JV, and she shot a round of 72.
