In August of 2010, Doug Sickelka and his sons Cory and Chris opened their business, Sickelka Ag Service in Sutherland.

Many area farmers had known Doug for over 20 years. He was a Pioneer seed dealer at CS Ag Grow in Calumet for 12 years. In 2008, CS Ag Grow entered in a partnership with Ag Partners and no longer sold the Pioneer Brand of seeds.

Seeing the need of supplying farmers who preferred Pioneer Seeds, Doug left CS Ag Grow in July of 2009, and after talking with his sons, the three men decided to go out on their own and began organizing their own Ag Service.

Located at 400 E. Southern St.,, or Hwy 10, Sickelka Ag Service offers farmers seed, fertilizer, crop protection, application, crop scouting, mapping, seed treatments and much more.

They offer many varieties of soybean seed as well as many more varieties of corn which is suitable for Northwest Iowa. Things are quite busy for the young company, and it took a little time for them to get their office up and running in between spring planting and harvest seasons.

They recently held an Open House and red ribbon cutting for the community, which drew many of their customers and Sutherland business owners.

You may contact Sickelka Ag Service at 712-446-2400.
