The Ridge View FFA Chapter held its 2nd Annual Banquet on Tuesday, March 27 at the High School in Holstein. 23 members and 82 guests were present. The night started with a supper of pork loin, smoked turkey breast, cheesy potatoes, and a wide assortment of salads, desserts, and lemonade.
Steven Brockshus, the Northwest District Vice President, was the keynote speaker for the night. Along with that, eight students were awarded their Greenhand Degree, they were: Marc Meyer, Aaron Cuthrell, Austin Mentzer, Anthony Bainbridge, Ashley Albers, Jory Beyer, Harrison Gebers, and Preston Schmidt. Austin Mentzer was awarded the Star Greenhand Award. Chapter Degree receivers included Tyler Albers, Tyrel Bennett, Kirby Goettsch, Dana Hustedt, NIck Babcock, Angelica Baker, Jared Hinkeldey, Kenny Joens, Jason Kenny, Jasmin Ortiz, and Jake Galvin. Tyrel Bennett was awarded the Star Chapter Award. Also, a special recognition was given to Tyrel Bennett for recently being elected as the Northwest District Treasurer and Kayla Ronfeldt for accomplishing her SAE State Degree. She will be recognized at State Convention in April.
Additional Awards Received were by the Soil Judging Team consisting of Jasmin Ortiz, Kenny Joens, Nick babcok, and Jared Hinkeldey. Livestock Judging Team was Tyrel Bennett, Kirby Goettsch and Jason Kenny. Parlimentary Procedure Team- Tyrel Bennett, Jared Hinkeldey, Kirby Goettsch, Dru Kenny, and TYler Albers. Debbie Bailey and Dena Stille were welcomed into the Honorary Members of the FFA and received plaques. Certificates of Appreciation were given to Joy Babcock, Brent Meyer, Rod Brosamle, Curt Vogt, and John and Shelly Tiefenthaler. Judges for the FFA Scholarships for Seniors were Brad and Jennifer Goettsch, Melissa Fredrichsen, and Mary Kay Todd. Seniors who applied and received scholarships were Isaac Jepsen, Kayla Ronfeldt, Kris Alesch, and Paul Bainbridge.
The 2012-2013 Chapter Officers were installed and a labor auction was held for last year's officers and the new elects. A beautiful, handmade blanket from Merry Nilan was given to be auctioned off. Silent bidding was also done on several homemade pies. The Chapter thanks all those who took part in making this banquet a success and all the community members who support our Chapter.
