MMC girls win MMC Co-ed Relays

WC-KP dominates boys division

MARCUS - The host Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls won their own MMC Co-ed Relays here Monday night, totaling 135 team points to runner-up Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson's 112.

Remsen St. Mary's placed third with 100 points, followed by Remsen-Union 84, George-Little Rock 71, Akron-Westfield 47, Granville Spalding 20.

Potent WC-KP claimed the boys team crown with a whopping 208 points, followed by R-U 92, G-LR 74, MMC 30, RSM 24, Spalding 24.

The MC girls won four events and placed second in four relays to amass their point totals, including double winner Nicki Schwarz, who won the 3000 meters in 12:33, and the 1500 meters in 5:48. Schwarz also was third in the 800 meters in 2:43 for a superb showing.

MMC sprinter Erica Dreckman won the 200 meters in 27.90, was second in the 100 meters in 13.80, and third in the 400 meters in 1:04.9.

Dawn Henderson won the discus with a 90-7 effort, and teammate Brandi Orr was third with a heave of 88-10.

Jasi Vasher was second in the high jump with a 4-8 leap, and Haley Moser was fourth with a jump of 4-2. Bailey Walton was fourth in the shot put with a 25-6 1/4 throw, and Orr was sixth with a 24-6 1/2 heave. Carly Lehnhoff placed fourth in the 100 meters in 14.90, Heather Hoefling was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:39.05, and Haley Moser sixth in the 400 meters in 1:11.40.

MMC was second in the sprint medley, distance medley, shuttle hurdle, and 4x400 relays; third in the 4x800 and 4x200; and fifth in the 4x100.

Lehnhoff, Angeleah Hoefling, Moser, and Dreckman ran the sprint medley in 2:02.3; Lehnhoff, Vasher, Amber Neisius, and Angeleah Hoefling clocked 5:06 in the distance medley; Kassi Kellogg, Heather Hoefling, Kaya Hantsbarger, and Angeleah Hoefling clocked 1:25 in the shuttle hurdle; Sydney Roberts, Moser, Vasher, and Neisius clocked 4:48 in the 4x400; Roberts, Sarah Bird, Heather Hoefling, and Neisius timed 11:38 in the 4x800; Lehnhoff, Roberts, Angeleah Hoefling, and Neisius timed 2:01 in the 4x200; and Hantsbarger, Kellogg, Heather Hoefling, and Angeleah Hoefling clocked 58.9 in the 4x100.

In the boys competition, Evan Colfack of WC-KP was a double winner, claiming the discus with a meet record 158-5 throw, and the shot put with a throw of 51-6 1/2. MMC's Levi Letsche was third in the shot put with a 38-11 heave.

Other MMC individual placings went to Zach Reuter fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 19.75, and Jake Letsche sixth in 22.62. Michael Bush was fifth in the 100 meters in 13.22.

The MMC boys were second in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:50.8, third in the 4x100 in 49.17, fifth in the medley in 4:41.10, and fifth in the 4x200 in 1:49.3.

Names of the runners featured in the MMC boys relays were not submitted.
