Dave Ellis, Director of the City of Cherokee Recreation Department, has released information regarding summer programs.

The sign-up deadline for softball is May 2. The cost is $200 per team, and teams or individual registration can be done by one of two methods: calling the Recreation Office at 225-2715, or online at www.cherokeeiowa.net.

The Men's League will play games on Thursday nights, from May 24-July 26, and the Co-Ed League will play games on Wednesday nights, from May 23-July 25.

Registration for the Hershey's Track and Field Games (for boys and girls ages 9-14) must be done by May 2. Registration forms are available at area Casey's stores, Cherokee City Hall, the Parks and Recreation Department, or online at www.cherokeeiowa.net. The Cherokee Hershey's Meet will be run on Monday May 7.

Registration for swim lessons is from 4-7 p.m. on May 21 at the Community Center. The cost for public lessons is $30 and the cost for private lessons is $45. Parent/child classes are $5 per lesson, or $30 for the entire 8-session course.

Swim lessons will be held at the Bacon Aquatic Center, which opens May 24. Season passes are available now, and may be purchased at City Hall or the Community Center. Family passes are $125, single passes are $70, and a 10-punch pass can be purchased for $45. Visa and Mastercard will be accepted.
