Dreckman wins girls 200 meters

SIOUX CENTER - MOC-Floyd Valley won the girls team title, and Orange City Unity Christian the boys team crown at last week's Sioux Center Co-ed Relays.

The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn track and field squads placed seventh in their respective divisions in the rugged one-class field.

MOV-FV won the girls team title with 184 points, followed by Le Mars 103.5, Central Lyon 76, Sibley-Ocheyedan 67, Unity Christian 56.5, Sioux Center 48, MMC 38.5, and Akron-Westfield 14.5.

Unity Christian won the boys competition with 152 points, followed by Sioux Center 123, MOC-FV 96, S-O 86, A-W 52, Central Lyon 27, MMC 11, and West Sioux 3.

Erica Dreckman paced the MMC girls' effort, winning the 200 meters in 27.5, and running on the second-place district medley and third-place sprint medley relays.

The distance medley clocked a 4:45 with Carly Lehnhoff, Dreckman, Sydney Roberts, and Nicki Schwarz aboard; and the sprint medley featured Lehnhoff, Roberts, Anmgeleah Hoefling, and Dreckman timed in 2:04.

Jasi Vasher was third in the high jump with a leap of 4-8, and Haley Moser tied for fifth in the high jump with a 4-2 effort. Schwarz was sixth in the 1500 meters in 5:36, and Brandi Orr was sixth in the discus with a throw of 97-7.

The MMC shuttle hurdle relay placed fifth in 1:27, with Kassi Kellog, Vasher, Kaya Hantsbarger, and Hoefling aboard; the 4x800 of Amber Neisius, Roberts, Sarah Bird, and Schwarz was fifth in 11:02; and the 4x200 of Lehnhoff, Hoefling, Neisius, and Dreckman was sixth in 1:59.

"It was tough weather and a tough meet, but we competed and had some very good results," said MMC coach Ric Collins.

In the boys competition for MMC, Levi Letsche was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 44-01 1/2, and Reece Jackson was fourth in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 17.84 in the damp, windy, chilly conditions.
