Thomas W. Flannery, 91, of Hinton, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City with R. Paul Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held today at Meyer Brother Colonial Chapel in Sioux City from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. today with Matt Wentz officiating.

Burial will be held at the Liberty-Perry Township Cemetery rural Hinton. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Tom was born March 20, 1921 in Sioux City. He was the son of William and Annie (Kovarna) Flannery. Tom grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1940. He married Genevieve Allen on Aug. 12, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Tom farmed north of Sioux City for all of his life along side his brother Arthur.

He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Saddle and Hunt Club, the Good Sam Camper Club and the Crystal Rhythm Dance Club. Tom enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, bowling, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing cards.

Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Arthur.

Survivors are his wife: Genevieve of Hinton, three children: Tommy Flannery and his wife Susan of Hinton, Kirt Flannery and his wife Michelle of Yankton, S.D., Pam Ades and her husband John of Cherokee, seven grandchildren: Rusty and Matt Flannery, Robbie Flannery, Wendy Jensen, Nick and Ben Praster and Molly Ades, along with 12 great-grandchildren.
