Dorothea (Dottie) June Escue

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Dottie Escue passed away on April 16 at home in Red Bluff, Calif. after a lengthy illness and a valiant fight. She was born on June 17, 1936 in Cherokee, to Lawrence and Lealdra Adolf.

She married Albert Escue on Sept. 4, 1955 and had four children: Juanita Marie, James Brian, Nanci Anne and Bruce Craig. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family and was a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, reading and gardening but her family was most important to her.

She moved from Iowa to California in 1959 with her husband and oldest daughter and lived in various small towns throughout California, residing in Red Bluff for the past 22 years. She was a hard-working woman, both inside and outside of the home and was involved in many community activities during her lifetime, supporting her family in so many ways.

Dottie is survived by daughters Juanita Rajanen and husband Michael, Nanci Souza and husband Ben, grandchildren Justin Ault and wife Melissa, Alysia Rajanen, Angela and Dustin Souza and great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Rheann, Izabella, Draven, Caden, Kailee, Devyn and Mikah. She was predeceased in death by her husband Albert, parents Lawrence and Lealdra, brother Dale and sons James and Bruce.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to St. Elizabeth's Hospice staff for their care, understanding and support. They cared for their mother with dignity, gentleness and compassion.

Their mom was a strong, tough woman during this last battle and throughout her life and yet so very gracious through all the trials and difficulties she faced.

They will miss her so very much, but are thankful that she was their mother and taught them well in the things that mattered. Per her request, no services will be held. May she now dance freely in those fields of grace.
