Young Artist's Concert Sunday

The Cherokee Symphony, conducted by Lee Thorson, will be performing its final concert of the season on Sunday April 22, 2012, at the Cherokee Community Center. Featured in this performance will be the Young Artists Concert.

You will enjoy performances by:

Kylie Peterson. Kylee is the daughter of Brian and Kris Peterson of Lincoln, NE, and is a junior vocal music education and vocal performance major at Buena Vista University. She has had eight years of vocal study with Anna Hanselmann in Lincoln and currently studies under Dr. Paula Keeler at BVU. Kylie is one-half of the creative team for a student written musical, including original music, with plans to produce it with BVU's drama department next fall as a main stage performance; it is called Beautiful Mentality.

Jesse Luedtke
Michelle Curtis. Michelle is currently a junior at St. Edmonds Catholic High School in Fort Dodge. There she is a member of the jazz and concert bands under the direction of Ms. Kelly Albrecht. Michelle has been a student of Dr. David Klee of Buena Vista University since 2007. She has participated in NCIBA Honor band and Little Cyclone Honor Band all three years of High School and has also on other occasions participated in the Concordia and Dorian Festivals. Michelle was a member of Iowa All State Band her sophomore year and Iowa All State Orchestra her junior year. Michelle plans to continue her passion for music well on after high school as a performance major at an undecided college.

Jesse Luedtke. Jesse is a junior at Storm Lake High School where he plays trombone in concert band, marching band, pep band and jazz band under the direction of Jason Heeren. Jesse's teachers who have guided and encouraged him are: Holli Safley, Barb Wells, Suzanne Winterhof, Curt Orhlund, Vance Shoemaker and Jason Heeren. In High School Jesse has been an All State musician for 3 years, twice in the band and once in the Orchestra. As a sophomore he was Principal Trombone of the orchestra, and as a junior he was 1st chair in 1st section of the band. He has been in the NWI high school district honor bands, BVU honor band, University of Iowa high school honor band and Northwest Iowa High School honors orchestra. He has played trombone with the Cherokee Symphony for 2 years.

Stephanie Gibb-Clark. Stephanie, a soprano. is a junior at Drake University in Des Moines studying vocal performance with Dr. Ann Cravero, as well as Women's Studies. Stephanie has participated in a number of musicals and vocal competitions. Additionally, in 2011, Stephanie was selected to spend a summer studying opera is Austria at the prestigious AIMS in Graz program.

Casey Hardin, Casey has studied piano privately under Cynthia Wrenn and Dr. James Johnson at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He received excellent/superior ratings in the NMTA District and State Competitions in Omaha, NE in 2009, Hartings, NE in 2010 and Lincoln, NE in 2011. Casey was the Keyboard player in the jazz band in his middle school. Starting this year as a freshman at Millard North High School. Casey participates in the marching band, concert and drum line activities. Casey's interests also include mathematics, science, all genres of music, and cross-country.

Please come enjoy these performances as The Cherokee Symphony ends the 2011-2012 season on Sunday April 22, 2009 at 4:00 PM at the Cherokee Community Center, Cherokee Iowa.

Tickets at the door are $10.00. Children through high school are admitted free.
