SOS golf teams win two more

The South O'Brien boys and girls golf teams continued their winning ways last week, defeating Le Mars Gehlen and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in War Eagle Confrence action.

The SOS boys beat Gehlen 172-180, and the SOS girls beat the Jays 220-221.

The SOS boys were led by Austin Sweeney who carded a 39 for medalist honors, followed by Zane Roberts 43, Shaan Desai 44, and Nate Struve 46. Also for the Wolverines, Brice Goosen shot 49, and Cody Nelson 53.

Dylan Kneip was low medal for Gehlen with a 43.

Emma Sweeney paced the SOS girls with a 53, followed by Jaynee Smith 54, Naomi Petrich 55, Shelbi Holtkamp 58, Ratla Coady 60, and Mikayla Campbell 63.

Gehlen's Mollie Nemmers was medalist with a 48.

Against MMC, the top SOS boys scores were Desai 36, Sweeney 38, Struve 42, and Austin Wise 43. Desai and MMC's Zach Specht tied for medalist honors, with Specht winning in a one-hole playoff.

In the girls competition for SOS, Petrich was medalist with a 49, followed by Coady 54, Holtkamp 55, and Sweeney 56.
