The jam will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is a $5-$10 donation at the door. Area musical talent will be the entertainment and there will be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the LLS.
Schmillen, a former television personality with KMEG TV in Sioux City now serving as a weather reporter with the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, said she decided to run for the LLS Celebrity of the Year after being approached by co-workers and others in the Des Moines area.
Schmillen said all proceeds from the campaign donations benefit the LLS and will remain in the LLS Central District, which includes Des Moines and Cherokee.

Schmillen said local and regional musicians, plus several Sioux City members of "Rockestra," including noted drummer Johnny Bolin, are scheduled to play in Thursday's Jam in Cherokee.
