Many of them remember driving down the highway and seeing humorous signs along the way advertising Burma Shave, such as... "Hardly a driver...is now alive...who passed...on hills...at 75."
The committee wants to bring the signs back for the RAGBRAI riders scheduled to arrive in Cherokee Sunday, July 22, on the ride's first overnight stay after leaving Sioux Center, the point of origin for this year's 40th Anniversary RAGBRAI.
The Committee is asking readers to come up with humorous or attention-getting sayings that they can use along the bike routes to welcome riders, mention sights to see, use the town's theme or logo, or say farewell to the bikers as they are leaving town. Use your imagination and wit!
*The message on the signs should be brief
* Each sign will be 32x9.5" and in sets of 5-6 signs
* Each saying must fit on one set of signs
* Deadline to enter is June 1 at high noon
