CMS 7th grade girls compete at D-S meet

DENISON - The Cherokee Middle School 7th grade girls won three firsts at last week's Denison-Schleswig Track & Field Meet here.

Olivia dagel won the shot put with a throw of 25-3, Madison Hogdgon won the 400 meters in a time of 1:09, and MaKenna Carver won the 800 meters in 2:59.

Second-place finishes went to Hogdgon 14.44 clocking in the 100 meters and Kayla Riedemann's 3:19 time in the 800 meters.

In the relays for Cherokee, the distance medley was second in 5:28 featuring Taylor Bute, Fran Conley, Riedemann, and Carver; the sprint ,edley was second in 2:21 with Hogdgon, Carver, Dagel, and Fran Conley aboard; and the 4x100 relay of Bute, Fran Conley, Dagel, and Hogdgon was second in 1:06.

Thirds went to Riedemann's 52-3 discus throw, Josie Kindwall's 33.78 time in the 200 meters, and the 4x200 relay of Bute, Kindwall, Riedemann, and Dagel timed in 2:19.

The girls were anxious to have the first meet of the year over with," noted Cherokee coach Sue Ann Johnson. "Now we know what to expect for a meet. We are low on numbers this year with only 13 girls, but I'm extremely pleased with the effort and performance of each and every one of them."
