Cherokee 8th girls win four firsts

DENISON - The Cherokee Middle School 8th grade girls claimed four first-place finishes at last week's Denison-Schleswig Track & Field Meet.

Winning individual titles were Bailey Gaydo first in the 1500 meters in a time of 6:07, and Kaely Hummel first in the 800 meters in 2:51.

Cherokee's sprint medley relay was first in 2:17 with Jasmine Ramirez, Kacie Weiland, Shayla Herger, and Kaleigh Dixson aboard; and the 1600 medley relay of Dixson, Chelsea Cave, Harger, and Hummel were first in 5:11.

Cherokee seconds went to Hummel's 4-4 high jump, Gaydo's 2:56 time in the 800 meters, and the 4x400 relay of Harger, Weiland, Abby Plum, and Liz Herrera clocked in 5:44.

Thirds went to Cave's 11-9 long jump, Jennifer Baker's 31.56 time in the 200 meters, and Hayley Graybill's 37.79 time in the 200 hurdles.

The 4x100 relay of Baker, Cave, Dixson, and Hannah White was third in 1:01; and the 4x200 relay of Emily Brewer, Ramirez, Makaelyn Glienke, and Natalie Brewer was third in 2:23.

Host Denison-Schleswig won the triangular with 86 points, followed by Carroll 50, and Cherokee 41.
