MMC boys 3rd in Class A at Hinton Blackhawk Meet - River Valley boys 2nd in Class B

HINTON - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys placed third in Class A at last week's Hinton Blackhawk Relays, and the River Valley boys finished second in Class B in the respective six team fields.

For the MMC boys in individual performances, Andrew Hoefling was second in the 200 meters in a time of 24.3, and third in the 100 meters in 12.05; Dalton Brady was second in the 400 meters in 54.85; Levi Letsche third in the discus with a throw of 117-1; and Reece Jackson was second in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.17.

In the relays for the Eagles, the 4x400 unit was second with a 3:49 clocking, the shuttle hurdle was second in 1:09, and the 4x100 relay third in a time of 48.43.

Host Hinton won the Class A team title with 177 points, followed by Sergeant Bluff-Luton 119, MMC 76, Westwood 59, Sioux City North JV 56, and lawton-Bronson 41.

For River Valley in Class B, Zac Gander, Tanner Cobb, Jeremy Gebers, and the Wolverines' shuttle hurdle relay claimed first-place finishes.

Gander high jumped 6-0 to win that event, Cobb won the shot put with a heave of 50-5 1/4, and Gebers won the 200 meters in 25.15.

Runner-up finishes went to Kyler Lewis with a 12.31 time in the 100 meters, and Nathan Utesch's 2:19 clocking in the 800 meters, while thirds went to Gander with a 18.53 time in the 110 meter hurdles, and Drew Payne's 58.33 time in the 400 meters.

RV won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:15 with Gander, Josh Pansegrau, Adam Schirmer, and Mark Sniderhan aboard.

The Wolverines' 4x400 relay was second in 4:02, and the 4x800 relay was second in 9:27. The 4x100 relay was third in a time of 49.92, the 4x200 was third in 1:44, and the sprint medley relay was third in 4:07.

Le Mars Gehlen won the Class B team crown with 158 points, followed by River Valley 122, Whiting 96.5, Hinton JV 69.5, Remsen-Union 66, and Remsen St. Mary's 22.
