Cherokee tennis girls beat Storm Lake

The improving Cherokee Washington High girls tennis teasm nicked Storm Lake 5-4 in Lakes Conference action in Cherokee Monday night.

Cherokee won three of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to record the team's fourth consecutive victory.

In varsity singles for WHS, Denise Freed beat Alyssa Sievers 10-7 at #1, Emily Estala lost 10-5 to Emmerly Mai at 32, Taylor Meyerhofer beat Erin Deters 11-10 (10-8 tiebreaker) at #3, Megan carlson lost 10-4 to Lannie Brown at #4, Brooke Luetkeman lost 10-6 to Nouk Keovyphone at #5, and Megan Hummel beat Paige Cavanaugh 10-4 at #6.

In varsity doubles, Freed and carlson beat Siever and Mai 10-7 at #1, Estala and Meyerhofer lost 10-1 to Deters and Brown at #2, and Luetkeman and Hummel beat Keovyphone and Cavanaugh 10-3 at #3 to clinch the win.

The Cherokee JV team lost 7-2.

In JV singles for Cherokee, Brianna Fowler lost 8-3 at #1, Rachel Corken lost 8-4 at 32, Cassy Joines lost 8-2 at #3, Jennifer Davis lost 8-1 at #4, Lauren Yearous won 9-7 at #5, and Sammi Schoenherr lost 8-0 at #6.

In JV doubles, Fowler and Whitney Webb lost 8-4 at 31, Joines and Davis lost 8-1 at 32, and Yearous and Katie Sambrano won 8-6 at #3.
