Harskamp is currently displaying 22 paintings in the Museum's East Gallery.
Harskamp began college as an Art Major, but left the art world and attended cosmetology school. He was the owner/operator of Mr. Ken's Salon in Ida Grove for 40 years.
After Harskamp took his retirement, he gained more time to pursue his artistic endeavors.
He took several art classes and explored different mediums, saying that he found his niche in watercolors and enjoys the freedom of expression that watercolors allow.
His works has been featured at the Clay County Fair and some of his work is currently in state contests. He spends much of his time between living in Iowa and spending six months out of the year in Florida.
On May 10, Harskamp will be hosting an Artist Reception at the East Gallery at the Sanford Museum from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event is open to the public and great way to meet the artist and talk about his passion for his paintings.
