Husman paces Braves at Lakes Track Meet

STORM LAKE - Cherokee junior sprinter Marc Husman nabbed a first, a third, and a sixth-place finish to lead the Braves track and field team at last week's Lakes Conference Co-ed Track Meet in Storm Lake.

Husman won the 400 meters in a speedy 51.40, placed third in the 200 meters in a time of 23.15, and finished sixth in the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:09. Husman earned All-Lakes Conference honors with his win in the 400 meters.

Other top individual performances for the Braves were Grayson Roosa fourth in the discus with a throw of 132.07, Eamon Adamson fourth in the 1600 meters in a time of 4:40, and Zac Taylor sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:01.

In the relays, Cherokee notched a fourth, a fifth, and two sixths in the rugged eight-team field.

The medley relay of Sergio Goechez, Rasheen Ulis, Ben Sampson, and Adamson placed fourth in a time of 3:50; the 4x400 relay of Adamson, Husman, Ulis, and Luke Zeiman was fifth in 3:40; the shuttle hurdle relay of Sampson, Taylor, Nathaniel Morgan, and Carlos Aguilar was soxth in 1:10; and the 4x100 relay of Goechez, Ulis, Andy Pitts, and Taylor was sixth in 47.55.

Spirit Lake Park won the boys team title with 149 points, followed by Spencer 102, Hull Western Christian 78, Le Mars 63, Storm Lake 48, Emmetsburg 43, Estherville-LC 37, and Cherokee 34.
