'Stamp Out Hunger' Saturday

This Saturday, May 12th, letter carriers across the country, in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, will be collecting food for families in need.

It's easy to help out. Simply collect and bag non-perishable food items and place them by your mailbox (or at your local post office, for those who do not have home delivery).

Saturday morning, your letter carrier will then take your donation and Mid-Sioux Opportunity will pick it up at the Post Office.

Cherokee letter carrier Don Roethler initiated the Stamp Out Hunger Project in Cherokee County, and this year will mark the 20th year they have collected the food for Mid-Sioux Opportunity.

Joan Forcier, the director of the Cherokee Mid-Sioux office, said the donations are always welcomed by her clients, especially at this time of year, as youngsters finish school for the year and no longer have access to daily school lunch programs.
