May is such a busy month! There is a lot to celebrate with Mother's Day, Graduation, Memorial Day, and the last day of school. So I'm sure calendars are covered with places to go and things to do.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the library programs the library is having this month.
Preschool story time will continue to meet every Tuesday from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. This is for children ages 3 -- 5 years old.
Terrific Toddlers will meet on Saturday, May 12 from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. Any 1 to 3 year old can bring a responsible adult and learn some new action rhymes, finger plays, and listen to stories.
Our final program for the school year will be Thursday, May 17 from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m. Have you ever done star gazing and wished you could be a part of them? There is a way! Come to the Cherokee Public Library on May 17 to find out how you can twinkle and shine with the rest of the stars. Don't forget to ride the IC bus to the library. Be sure to tell the bus driver you need to be dropped off at the library. All ages are welcome.
Parents! A flyer about the Cherokee Public Library's summer reading program will be sent home with the children May 9 and May 16. This year the Sanford Museum is co-sponsoring the "Dream Big . . . READ" summer reading program and have agreed to have the library programs each week at the museum. So be sure to check your flyers and mark the dates and time for each weeks special program.
"Dream Big . . . Read" will begin June 18 and run until July 14 and is available to children ages 3 years old to students in 6th grade. Children younger than three must be accompanied by an adult. Come join in the fun as we live out our dreams through books and activities at the Cherokee Public Library and the Sanford Museum.
Our first special program, "Going Batty" will be Tuesday, June 19th from 10 a.m. -- 11 a.m. at the Sanford Museum. Linda Kohn, our new naturalist from the Cherokee Conservation Office, will be our speaker.
Monday, June 25 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. the Sanford Museum will have a program about More Stargazing. Each child will leave with a cool trinket to take home.
Monday, July 2 Rick the Comedy Magician will amaze and wow you with his magic and humor from 10:30 a.m. -- 11:15 a.m. at the Sanford Museum. He will have a magic workshop after the program for students that are 8 years old and older is there is enough interest. It will run no longer than noon.
The final program will be during the week of July 9. Be sure to listen to KCHE, or check the Cherokee Chronicle Times for more information. I hope to see you at the library and the Sanford Museum this summer for more adventures, reading, and fun.
Don't forget to mark your calendars.
