Track Braves compete at Spencer

SPENCER - The Cherokee Braves racked up a first, two seconds, and a third-place finish at the recent Spencer Relays here.

The medley relay team of Sergio Goechez, Rasheen Ulis, Eamon Adamson, and Marc Husman won in a time of 3:48.

Cherokee seconds went to Lane Peterson's 137-10 discus throw, and Adamson's 4:49 clocking in the 1600 meters.

Cherokee's 4x400 relay team placed third with a time of 3:46, featuring Ulis, Ben Sampson, Husman, and Adamson. The Braves 4x100 relay unit of Goechez, Ulis, Andy Pitts, and Husman was fourth in 46.89.

Fifth-place finishes went to Austin Johnson's 5:15 time in the 1600 meters, the Braves shuttle hurdle relay clocked in 1:14, and the 4x200 relay timed in 1:38. Sampson, Zac Taylor, Nathaniel Morgan, and Brendan Rupp were aboard the shuttle hurdle relay; and Goechez, Ulis, Pitts, and Husman ran the 4x200.

Sixth-place finishes went to Grayson Roosa's 125-03 discus throw, and Taylor's 1:03 clocking in the 400 meter hurdles.

In JV action for Cherokee, Carlos Aguilar was first in the 400 meters in 58.66; the Young Braves 4x400 relay team of Luke Zieman, Kevin Fajardo, Morgan, and Taylor was first in a time of 3:50; and the medley relay unit of Pitts, Sampson, Zieman, and Fajardo was first in 4:12.

Brendan Rupp was third in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:13.

Spencer won the varsity team title with 123 points, followed by Le Mars 113, Hull Western Christian 89, Emmetsburg 76, Estherville-LC 75, Cherokee 48, Storm Lake 27.
