2A teams earn State berths

WHS, A-A, Ridge View, and SOS girls qualify events

In Class 2A District action in Sioux Center Thursday night, the Alta-Aurelia boys qualified seven events for the Iowa State Co-ed Track & Field Championships Thursday through Saturday at Des Moines.

Also in Class 2A here, the Cherokee boys qualified four events, and the girls three, with the Braves sprint ace Marc Husman qualifying in three events, and stellar distance runner Eamon Adamson in one.

In Class 2A action in Ida Grove hosted by OABCIG, the Ridge View boys qualified seven events, and the girls four.

For the Braves, Husman placed third in the 200 meters Thursday with a time of 23.24, won the 800 meters in 2:02.43, and also won the 400 meters in 50.89. Adamson placed second in the 1600 meters in 4:45.26 to make State.

For the Cherokee girls, Taylor Woods won her two specialty events with personal bests, including 39-6 in the shot put, and 120-1 in the discus. Katy Hart also made State with a runner-up finish in the long jump with a personal best leap of 15-11 3/4.

State qualifiers for the A-A boys include Jalen Henningsen second in the 100 meters (12.01), and 200 meters (22.82); Mitchell Fritz second in the 400 meters (52.97); and Jordan Schmitz third in the 400 meter hurdles (56.06).

In the boys relays for A-A, the 4x200 of Kaleb Howey, Shawn Rowell, Jordan Schmitz, and Henningsen was second (1:33.24); the 4x400 relay of Austin Delp, Henningsen, Fritz, and Neil Marshall was fourth (3:30.84).

For the SOS girls, Halee Rahbusch was second at Districts with a 2:30.53 time in the 800 meters to make State; and the distance medley relay of Erin Brasser, Taylor Paulsen, Casie Rehder, and Rahbusch timed in 4:25.81 finished first to make State.

At the Ida Grove District for Ridge View boys, Seth Johnson qualified for State with a third place finish in the 100 meters in 11.36; Ryan Garthoff placed sixth in the 100 meters in 11.49 to make State; Dru Kenney won the 200 meters in 22.82; and Nathan Myrice won ther shout put with a throw of 51-9 1/2.

In the relays, Ridge View won the shuttle hurdle in 1:02.13 with Kyle Wessling, Derrick Williams, Christian Egger, and Sergio Carbajal aboard; placed second in the 4x200 in 1:32.72 with Garthoff, Johnson, Austin Graff, and Dru Kenny running; and the 4x100 was first in 44.39 comprised of that same foursome.

Making State for the Ridge View girls were Emily Kenny fourth in the 100 meters in 13.22; Rachel Hunt fifth in the 100 meters in 13.43; Sydney Kistenmacher third in the 200 meters in 27.49; and Gretchen Kistenmacher won the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:10.31.
