Shirley Ann Rasmussen, age 98, of Galva, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center of Cherokee. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Galva with the Kristen D. Boysen officiating. Burial will be in the Galva Township East Cemetery of Galva. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Shirley was born Nov. 7, 1913 in Cherokee, to Howard and Luella Reddington Krout. She attended Cherokee schools and graduated from Wilson High School.

She married Harry Rasmussen on March 2, 1932 in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Silver Creek Township of Ida for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Galva in 1975.

Shirley enjoyed working with the Church Circles and belonging to the Galva Civic Club, where she was a lifetime member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; two sons, Harry Jr. and Richard; a son-in-law Don Haselhoff; a great-grandson Brandon Jennings; and five sisters.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jean Haselhoff of Cherokee; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one sister.
