We "aim" to please - Randy Reeves and Chris Tofteberg aim to locate volunteers to help Cherokee host RAGBRAI XL coming to Our Town Sunday, July 22. Residents hosting riders in your homes/yards are very much needed (see related story). Photo contributed
Host homes for RAGBRAI riders are needed for Cherokee's hosting of the first overnight og RAGBRAI XL on Sunday, July 22. The following are a few of the many requests for accommodations received at City Hall.

Linda & friends, a group of six, average age 60, from Indianola wants to pitch a tent on your yard, also has a small RV. Bathroom facilities requested.

Two female friends (grandmas) and the son of one of them, Gail lives in Loveland CO, Katie in Richmond VA and Chad lives in Denver. "Seasoned" but definitely not boring! Avid cyclists, golfers, scuba divers and travelers! Will reciprocate if host travels to Colorado! Would like floor space in your home and use of bathroom facilities.

Ashley & David and their friends Doug & Michelle & Matthew & Bill, (drivers). Their average age is 40. Ashley was the housing coordinator in Glenwood when RAGBRAI traveled through there. Dave is in financial services and Ashley is a stay at home mom and volunteer. Doug is a systems analyst and Michelle is a second grade teacher. They have a pop-up camper. They would like to be able to use their host's electricity (regular household current). They have a portable toilet and shower that they can set up, but would love to be able to use their hosts' bathroom facilities if possible.

Paul is looking for yard camping for five people, and access to bathroom facilities. Three are in their 50s and two in their 60s, active in the United Church of Christ.

John (55) and his daughter Emily (25) are looking for beds or floor space and bathroom facilities. They are from Ruston LA. They are looking forward to their trip to Iowa and enjoyed meeting so many nice families during their last RAGBRAI with host housing!

We have many (200+) more requests for hosting from people of all ages, occupations and from all over the United States! Guests do not expect that any food will be provided. We want to encourage them to eat at the churches and/or other venues. Oftentimes they will treat their host to a meal.

If you are interested in housing any of the above, or any other single person or group of any size, please contact Diane or Connie at City Hall, 225-5749.
