I hope all moms had a special day with their family and friends on Mother's Day. I know I sure did. I am still enjoying my beautiful bouquet of cut flowers from Tom and his family, a special message from Bob, and a dream catcher to hang on the wall above my piano from Joe and Boomer.
And now for some library news.
Our pre-school story time will continue to meet every Tuesday through May and June from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This is for children ages 3--5 years old. Come and join Peg for thirty minutes of stories, songs, rhymes, and simple crafts.
The Terrific Toddlers program for 1-3 year olds and a responsible adult will not meet in the months June or July. It was great having everyone come to learn new rhymes, activities, stories, and songs with your children as they grow and develop.
Have a great summer with your young'ns and I'll see you at the library.
"DREAM BIG . . . READ!!!" This night time theme is for our 2012 summer reading program at the Cherokee Public Library. We offer this program, which is co-sponsored this year by the Friends of the Library and the Sanford Museum, to encourage the children to keep reading during the summer.
There are no homework assignments, they get to select books from the library that they would like to read, and will have a chance to do activities and projects that help them discover new and exciting information. And did I mention they can earn prizes for their reading.
The program will begin Monday, June 18 and end Saturday, July 14. The programs are open to all ages but are geared to children ages three year olds to sixth graders. The programs will all be held at the Sanford Museum this summer. So be sure to go directly to the museum for all of our special programs and then stop by the library to check out books and read, read, read.
These last two weeks I have been to Roosevelt and the Middle School to hand out flyers to the students with the dates, times, place, and topics of each program.
But stop by the library and pick up a flyer or call 225-3498 if you need more information about the summer reading program. If you would like to pre-register your child for the program please stop in at the library or call 225-3498.
The boys and girls will receive their "DREAM BIG . . . READ!!! bags, which will contain their reading logs, rules for the reading program and some extra goodies to get them started at the June 19th program at the Sanford Museum.
Linda Kohn, the new Cherokee County Naturalist, will present a program about night time animals from 1 p.m. -- 2 p.m.
Be sure to stop by the library to pick up the June newsletter for more information about "DREAM BIG . . . READ!!! summer reading program.
