DOW CITY - The Ridge View softball team traveled to Dow City on Monday to take on Boyer Valley in Western Valley Conference action, and the Raptors took the season opener by a score of 12-2 in five innings.
Getting the win on the mound for Ridge View was Mandy Wolver, who threw all five innings, giving up six hits while walking one and striking out one.
Leading the way at the plate for Ridge View was Ashlynn Blenner, who went 4-4 with a double and a RBI, and also scored three runs and stole a base, Nicole Snyder went 3-4 with two hits and two stolen bases, and Kaitlin Wulf and Gretchen Kistenmacher also had two hits apiece.
Mandy Wolver, Kaitlin Wulf and Katie Boyle each stroked a double for the Raptors, who knocked out 16 hits and stole six bases as a team.
The Ridge View coaches were happy with the effort once the team got the first game jitters out.
