Cherokee girls fall to SC West, 6-0

Thursday, May 31, 2012

SIOUX CITY - The Washington High School softball squad lost to the Class 4A Sioux City West squad here on Tuesday by a 6-0 score. Brooklyn Hoeppner started for Cherokee and struck out five in 5 innings of work. Hoeppner also led the Braves at the plate with a 2-3 performance. Cherokee actually had one more hit than West, getting seven base knocks to the Wolverines' six, but West's freshman hurler Sam Birkes fanned eight Braves and didn't walk anyone. West is now 3-1 on the season and Cherokee is 0-2.

Cherokee travels to Spirit Lake tonight for a Lakes Conference match-up.
