Annabell E. Johnson, 88, of Moville, formerly of rural Cherokee, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Township Cemetery, rural Quimby, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Visitation will be held today from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Annabell was born on Nov. 6, 1923 to Joseph "West" & Grace (Will) McGregor on a farm in Silver Township, Cherokee County. She attended school in Aurelia and graduated in 1942. She was united in marriage to Ralph O. Johnson on Dec. 1, 1943 at Alta. She worked many years in the children's unit at Cherokee Mental Health Institute until her retirement in 1980. She had lived in Moville the last 32 years and prior to this in rural Cherokee and had also lived in Kansas and Nebraska. She was a member of the Lutheran church and the American Legion Auxiliary & V.F.W. Auxiliary. Annabell enjoyed time with her grandkids, the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, dancing, word search puzzles and bulldogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph on Dec. 14, 1970, siblings: John McGregor, Virginia McGregor, Vera McGregor, Viola Stieneke and Vivian Hadenfeldt.

Annabell is survived by three children: Ralph Johnson and his wife Dianna of Moville; Reggie Kelley and special friend Greg Simon of Aurelia; Robin Salmen and her husband Bill of Niobrara, Neb.; seven grandchildren: Jason Johnson, Amanda Kelley, Ashley Coombs, Allison DuBord, Nick Suppes, Angela Salmen and Mellisa Flanigan; several great-grandchildren; sister: Rhea Garrett of Largo, Fla.; also several nieces and nephews.
